about me
Ilana Michelle Rubin is a comedian, voiceover actor, and DJ born and raised in the ubiquitously agreed upon Best Borough in NYC: Queens.
As she grew up, she was hoping that experiences like wearing an eye patch until she was eight years old and watching her parents jump on a baggage claim conveyor belt wouldn't go to waste. Luckily enough, her path led to a career in comedy.
Ilana is also a DJ under the name ilanafromqueens, she’s performed sets at Baby’s All Right, The Ace Hotel, Union Hall, and more! You can hear some of her mixes here.
Her sketch comedy work with Lana Schwartz has been featured on The New Yorker, WhoHaha, Btchflcks, The Queens Ledger, Vulture, Grub Street, and more! In the summer of 2016 they put out a murder mystery web-series, called Secrets & Liars. For the past four (pre-pandemic) they’ve hosted a show called the Chanukahstravaganza which received press in Brokelyn, Time Out, The New York Times, Grub Street, and Vulture!
In 2018, they were finalists in TruTV’s Comedy Breakout Initiative at the New York Television Festival.
Ilana was also a writer and actor for the weekly digital series and media group, deada$$, a diverse, NYC send-up of Wayne's World.
She wrote and starred in her own web-series, Pluto Girl.
As of 2019, she’d hosted the music focused podcast The Bop Pod interviewing comedians like Alyssa Limperis, Matt Rogers, X Mayo, and more! Streaming on Spotify, iTunes, and Stitcher or wherever else you listen to podcasts!
These days she’s hosting the comedy/DJ show CoacheLOL at Pianos which has been featured multiple times in TimeOut as part of their ‘Best Things to Do in NYC’ this week. She’ll be doing a solo-version of that on April 9th, 2023.
She also co-hosts the podcast Listen Good, a show where she and her comedian and friend Jesse Roth assign each other albums to listen to and then chat about.
